Circa 1820. Monticello GA. The Reese home, later promoted to Hall by an optimistic innkeeper, had humble beginnings, being transported via mule train from Savannah GA. It was the first house in the county, pushing the western frontier further west into Indian territory. It is commemorated with a plaque. We arrived circa 2022 to a 19th century Neoclassic updo followed by an extensive 21st century reno into an inn. The inn was, shall we say, sterile. We proceeded to jazz it up, adding life to a commercial kitchen, installing encaustic tile, artificial topiary, a secret door and a fabulous fountain worthy of a romantic fifties movie. The end result was a funky fun experience for guests. We tried to run the inn for a year, we really did. But the stay in one place lifestyle was not for us.
